SILVER BLAZE

In the story, 'Silver Blaze' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, we read
'Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?'
'To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time'.
'The dog did nothing in the night-time.'
That was the curious incident,' remarked Sherlock Homes.
     Here is a sequence:

     1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 11, 14, 16, 17, 19, 22, 26, 28, 29, 41, 44

Thinking about Holme's point, what is the next number in the sequence?
